BOOK+TECHNOLOGY=EBOOK. Keep the new and throw out the old?

As you can see, books have been around for about 4000 years but how much longer will they be kept? Even now Amazon sells 15 more Kindles for every 100 paperback books it sells! However, other companies such as Microsoft and Yahoo now scan books electronically too. Will technology replace books like it did to the record? Sony alone makes over 12000 books available online for download. This is a very important topic because if we are not careful, books might just become extinct in the far future. I think it is important that we do our best to prevent this as books are not just what we read out of interest. Books can tell you important other facts that a computer scanned copy cannot do. For one, books can be important historical sources of information and the book's condition can tell us a lot about its time. I believe that a balance between books and e books should be kept as this would keep backed up copies so these books would never be lost. Recently, the iPad 2 came out which provides the opportunity to read books electronically. This shows that more and more technology is being created which encourages digitalised books and in the future we will see at what point there is too much and if humans bow to pressure to throw out the book.
